Most research groups organize regular (usually weekly) seminars<\/a> featuring presentations by members or guest speakers. There’s also a student-led seminar (SIMBA<\/a>) for PhD candidates to present their research and interact across disciplines. The IMUB<\/a> also organizes a colloquium with invited speakers on general mathematical topics. Students must dedicate at least 10 hours per academic year to these activities.<\/p>\n
Students are recommended to complete 20 hours of advanced courses during the PhD, either locally, online or abroad. The BGSMath<\/a> otfen organizes training activities.<\/p>\n
Faculty and PhD students regularly participate in international conferences. Each student should attend at least two, dedicating around 40 hours total during the doctoral studies.<\/p>\n
Optional research stays at other institutions are encouraged. International stays of 3+ months may qualify for the “International Doctor” distinction.
