{"id":47,"date":"2024-12-02T13:18:36","date_gmt":"2024-12-02T12:18:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mat.ub.edu\/doctoratematinf\/?page_id=47"},"modified":"2026-05-22T10:49:34","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T09:49:34","slug":"admission-and-acces","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mat.ub.edu\/doctoratematinf\/admission-and-acces\/","title":{"rendered":"Admission and acces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The enrollment in our Doctoral Program has consists in three phases:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Admission<\/li>\n<li>Access<\/li>\n<li>Enrollment<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>To be eligible for admission to an official doctoral program, applicants must generally hold an official bachelor&#8217;s degree (or its equivalent) and a master&#8217;s degree, with a combined total of at least 300 ECTS credits across both qualifications.\u00a0D<span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">etailed information is available <a href=\"https:\/\/web.ub.edu\/en\/web\/escola-doctorat\/access-with-spanish-studies\">here<\/a> for Spanish studies and here for <a href=\"https:\/\/web.ub.edu\/en\/web\/escola-doctorat\/access-with-foreign-studies\">foreign<\/a> studies, including alternative entry routes. <\/span>An essential early step in the application process is identifying a faculty member within the program who can support your candidacy. We strongly encourage all applicants to explore the <a href=\"https:\/\/mat.ub.edu\/doctoratematinf\/\">research areas<\/a> of our faculty and reach out to potential supervisors to discuss research alignment and possible collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>The academic year runs from October to September and includes two admission periods:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong data-start=\"178\" data-end=\"194\">First period<\/strong>: Early May to mid-June, with results announced in July (for an October start).<\/li>\n<li><strong data-start=\"278\" data-end=\"295\">Second period<\/strong>: November to mid-January, with results announced in February (for a March start).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For precise dates and a comprehensive overview, please consult the <a href=\"https:\/\/mat.ub.edu\/doctoratematinf\/general-information\/calendar\/\">Doctoral Management Calendar<\/a>. Exceptional admissions may be accepted if there is a justified need to admit candidates who have received pre-doctoral funding. In this case, candidates must contact the Secretariat for Students and Teaching (SED).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>Admission<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Documentation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The required documentation for admission is the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree title or equivalent<\/li>\n<li>Master&#8217;s degree title<\/li>\n<li>Curriculum vitae<\/li>\n<li>Motivation Letter: brief statement indicating the candidate&#8217;s reasons for applying to the doctoral programme and expectations of the experience (approximately one page)<\/li>\n<li>Proof of language proficiency in English (official certificate or signed letter certifying English minimum level B1 or equivalent)<\/li>\n<li>Research proposal indicating the full-time or part-time dedication (use dedicated template available at the forms section)<\/li>\n<li>Thesis advisor proposal signed by the supervisor(s). At least one of the supervisors must be linked to one of the program&#8217;s the research lines (use dedicated template available at the forms section)<\/li>\n<li>Academic records (bachelor and master) detailing the subjects studied and the corresponding scores (not needed in case of UB students), together with any other documentation accrediting the candidate&#8217;s merits (compiled in a single pdf file)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally,\u00a0 candidates with foreign studies must submit:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For foreign studies from the European Higher Education Area (EHEA):\u00a0 document accrediting level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and document proving that the studies give access to the doctorate at the country of origin<\/li>\n<li>For studies outside the EHEA: Document proving that the studies give access to the doctorate at the country of origin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Deadline:<\/strong> there are two application periods every academic year (see <a href=\"https:\/\/mat.ub.edu\/doctoratematinf\/general-information\/calendar\/\">calendar<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Submit to:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/acad\/doctorat\/apli\/adac00001.php?lang=3\">Online Registration<\/a>\u00a0(HDK0Z &#8211; Mathematics and Computer Science)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Resolution:<\/strong> The Academic Commission will evaluate each applicant in accordance with the <a href=\"https:\/\/mat.ub.edu\/doctoratematinf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/45\/2025\/09\/Admission_Criteria.pdf\">Admission Guidelines<\/a>.
