Linguistic uses

Catalan is the official and official language of the University of Barcelona, and as such it has institutional and administrative uses. In the university teaching, Catalan and Spanish are used as official languages in Catalonia. Likewise, knowledge of other languages is promoted with the aim of achieving an increasingly multilingual university.

Teachers and students have the right to express themselves, orally or in writing, in the official language they prefer. For example, students can write the papers and answer exams in either language, regardless of what the teacher uses.

The center announces the teaching language before beginning the academic year, so when enrolling the student can check the language in which the class groups of each subject are taught. The indicated language is not changed and maintained throughout the course.

Students who do not understand Catalan have at their disposal an initial level intensive course, fifteen days before the start of each semester, and the Language reception program, which includes the activities of the Language exchange exchange . You can consult the calendar and the centers where the courses are taught and register for the Linguistic Services form.
