Data science is a new professional area<br \/>\nthat aims to give these data meaning by analyzing and interpreting them.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">A data scientist is a new professional profile at the intersection between maths <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">and computer science.<\/span><\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The master&#8217;s degree in Fundamental Principles of Data Science aims to<br \/>\nprovide, through theoretical and practical training, the algorithmic and mathematical bases<br \/>\nfor correct modeling and analysis of data, and the professional competencies to face data-based projects.<br \/>\nThere is a focus on competencies to understand the principles of algorithms that lie behind data science.<br \/>\nStudents will develop the ability to modify algorithms and create new ones, to adapt to the specific needs of a problem.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Consequently, the course includes aspects that cover a wide area: computational algebra,<br \/>\noptimization or probabilistic programming, automatic learning techniques and deep learning,<br \/>\ncomplex networks, recommendation systems, applications to natural language processing,<br \/>\ntime series, extraction of information in images, and support for infrastructures that process big data.<\/span><\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Is this the right program\u00a0for you?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">We welcome applicants from a wide range of academic backgrounds.<br \/>\nHowever, the programme is mathematically rigorous, and the strongest candidates<br \/>\ntypically come from <strong>disciplines with a solid quantitative foundation,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, physics, or engineering<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Candidates from other disciplines are also encouraged to apply,<br \/>\nbut they must be able to demonstrate relevant professional experience in quantitative or data-related<br \/>\nroles and provide evidence that they have mastered the required mathematical foundations<br \/>\n(e.g., through coursework, online certificates, projects, or practical work involving mathematics and statistics).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Please note that we are currently receiving a <span class=\"s1\"><b>high number of pre-enrolment applications<\/b><\/span>,<br \/>\nand admission is competitive.
