Dr. Laura Igual is an Associate Professor Interim at University of Barcelona. She obtained the B.Sc. in Mathematics from University of Valencia (2000) and the Ph.D degree on Image Processing from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2006). She received the competitive “Juan de la Cierva” research fellowship at the Computer Vision Center of Barcelona awarded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain (2008). She has published more than 15 papers in SCI-indexed journals and has more than 10 years of experience in working on computer vision and machine learning and its applications to several fields. She has participated in more than 25 projects (competitive and contracts with companies). Her current research interests include computer vision, medical imaging, machine learning, and data science.
