Dr. Anna Puig received a BSc. in Computer Science (1991) and a PhD in Computer Science (1998) from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Currently, she is associated professor in the University of Barcelona (Spain) and she leads the Volume Visualization and Artificial Intelligence research group (WAI).

For the past twenty years, she has researched in Computer Graphics and Volume Visualization research lines, and at the moment she is working in Game-based Learning as well as the usage of Artificial Intelligence methods in Virtual Worlds. She has published several research papers in international conferences and specialized journals and she is member of program committee in different international conferences and journals in the fields of Computer Graphics, Volume Visualization and User Interfaces. Her research interests are: intelligent and dynamic virtual worlds design in games, volume visualization, medical imaging, illustrative visualization and volume classification by AI techniques. She has experience in research projects about medical visualization, game-based learning and the popularisation of mathematical activities addressed to primary and secondary schools. She was involved as researcher in several national research projects, such as TIN2011-24220, 2012ACDC00150, FCT-11-2725, MAT2005-07244-C03-03), TIN2009-14702-C02-02, TIN2011-24220 and TIN-2012-38876-C02-02. Currently, she is vicedean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science in the University of Barcelona. She is responsible of the International Mobility of the Faculty.
